We are very excited to introduce the Rev. Deacon Annette Mileski to you. Deacon Annette will join us at St. Simon’s beginning Sunday, September 18.
Annette relocated to Chicago in April from Lansing, Michigan. She was ordained to the Deaconate on December 14, 2019 and served in the Diocese of Michigan at All Saints in East Lansing where her primary ministry focus was Outreach. Additionally, Annette provided Adult Education sessions, and assisted with Confirmation Classes and youth ministry sessions. Education, pastoral care, and racial equity are her passion. Two, well technically three, things brought Annette to Chicago: her two oldest children and her new job as the Director of the Center for Life and Learning at Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago.
Annette’s ministry at St. Simon’s will be something pretty non-traditional for a deacon. Her focus will be to facilitate and support community and connection for those of us who worship online and the guests who join us there. She will be an advocate for we who worship online and work to find ways that we who are online can connect and engage in outreach. Annette will be with us in the building two Sundays a month, and with us online the other two (or three) Sundays. She will, of course, help lead our worship and preach. Since this is something of an experiment, Annette will serve here initially for six months. During that time she and we will be considering if this is a long-term call for all of us.
